Name your segment

  • Label the segment name in the dialogue box under ‘Segment Name’
    • Generally, it’s best to name the segments in a way that they can identifiable later. For instance, you may name a segment “Lunch Group”  where a list is generated of all guests who use the app mainly between 12-2pm.

Select locations

  • Determine if data for this customer list should be pulled from all locations or only select locations
    • If it should be from all locations, be sure to check the box beside “Select All Location

  • If data should not be drawn from all locations, do not check the box and, instead, click into the dialogue box. A menu will drop down from which specific locations can be chosen

Define conditions

  • This section will determine which customers are included in the segmented list. There is a wide variety of conditions that can be used to create a custom segment, that list includes the following:

  • Example: If the reward is meant to encourage customers to transact during lunch hours when they normally would not, it’s best to generate a list of customers who transact mostly in the morning. To do so, set the conditions in the following way:

  • The conditions in the screenshot above will create a custom list of users who have more than 5 completed orders between 6 and 10 am
  • The “+OR” button creates a contrasting condition
    • The conditions in the screenshot above will create a list of users who have 10 or more orders between 5 and 9 am OR have 10 or more orders between 4 and 8 pm
    • Example: A reward meant to encourage users who transact mostly outside of lunch hours might want to include all users who transact during breakfast hours or dinner hours. It would be set up like below:

  • If the list should pull users that fit multiple conditions click the orange “+ ADD CONDITION”
    • The conditions in the screenshot above will create a list of users who have 10 or more orders between 5 and 9 am AND have 10 or more orders between 4 and 8 pm
    • Example: A reward meant to encourage users who transact mostly outside of lunch hours might want to include all users who transact during breakfast hours AND dinner hours. It would be set up like below

Define sorting and limit results

  • This section determines the formatting of the generated list and can be used to determine how many users are included. Like the previous section, there is a wide variety of conditionals that can be used to organize the customer list
    • In the example below, the customer list will be organized by the user’s first name in alphabetical order and will limit the list to 300
